How to adjust your skincare routine for spring

Spring Is Here. It May Be Time to Change Your Skincare Routine

When the seasons change, your skincare routine may need to change too.

The weather is getting warmer. So this is a good time to look at what you are using on your skin.

If you are like me, you may use richer products in the winter. Cold air can make the skin feel dry, tight, and uncomfortable. So in winter, many people reach for heavier creams and richer textures.

But when spring comes, your skin may not need the same heavy products anymore. This is often the time to tone things down a little and move to something lighter.

That does not mean you need a whole new routine. It just means you want to be more aware of what your skin needs right now.

For me, a simple morning routine is often best.

My morning essentials are: a good cleanser, an eye cream, a serum, and SPF.

You can use a moisturizer too if your skin needs it. But SPF is a must.

I always say this:

In the morning, we protect. In the evening, we repair.

That is the way I like to think about skincare.

In the morning, the goal is to protect your skin for the day ahead. Your skin is going to face sun, heat, wind, and other things in the environment. That is why SPF is so important. It is not optional. It is part of good skincare.

At night, the routine looks a little different.

In the evening, I recommend a double cleanse, then eye cream, a serum, and your night cream or moisturizer. This is the time to care for the skin and support it.

A lot of people ask me what products they should use.

My answer is always the same: I recommend products based on skin condition, not only skin type. Yes, skin type matters. It is the foundation. It gives us a starting point.

But most people do not come to the clinic just because they have dry skin or oily skin. They come because they have something they want to work on.

It may be dark marks.

It may be breakouts.

It may be dryness.

It may be sensitivity.

It may be that their skin just does not feel like itself anymore.

That is why I always look at the full picture.

Your skin needs products that fit what is happening now, not just what category your skin falls into. This is also why spring is a good time to check in with your routine.

Sometimes a few small changes can make a big difference.
